چکیده

This paper proposes new concepts of strong and coalition-proof correlated equilibria where agents form coalitions at the interim stage and share information about their recommendations in a credible way. When players deviate at the interim stage, coalition-proof correlated equilibria may fail to exist for two-player games. However, coalitionproof correlated equilibria always exist in dominance-solvable games and in games with positive externalities and binary actions. JEL Classi…cation Numbers: C72

Information transmission in coalitional voting games

A core allocation of a complete information economy can be characterized as one that would not be unanimously rejected in favor of another feasible alternative by any coalition. We use this test of coalitional voting in an incomplete information environment to formalize a notion of resilience. Since information transmission is implicit in the Bayesian equilibria of such voting games, this appro...

Computing Pure Nash and Strong Equilibria in Bottleneck Congestion Games

Bottleneck congestion games properly model the properties of many real-world network routing applications. They are known to possess strong equilibria – a strengthening of Nash equilibrium to resilience against coalitional deviations. In this paper, we study the computational complexity of pure Nash and strong equilibria in these games. We provide a generic centralized algorithm to compute stro...

Stability scores: measuring coalitional stability

We introduce a measure for the level of stability against coalitional deviations, called stability scores, which generalizes widely used notions of stability in non-cooperative games. We use the proposed measure to compare various Nash equilibria in congestion games, and to quantify the effect of game parameters on coalitional stability. For our main results, we apply stability scores to analyz...

Coalition Formation in Noncooperative Games: Some Experimental Evidence

We report experiments on three-player noncooperative games with preplay communication. The experiments were designed to test players’ capacity to coordinate on deviations through unstructured communication. We observe that players are not only able to coordinate on self-enforcing equilibria but also to coordinate on deviations and deviations from deviations. More interestingly, we found evidenc...

Dynamic Coalitional Agreements - coalitional rationalizability in multi-stage games

This paper extends the concept of coalitional rationalizability of Ambrus(01) to incorporate sequential rationality in multi-stage games with observable actions and incomplete information. Agreements among players are implicit, it is assumed that players cannot communicate with each other during the game. They re°ect a reasoning procedure which entails restricting strategies in a mutually advan...
